Crossing Horizons Day 1 through 4

I have to tell you about how we got to the ship. It was an experience. We had been watching all the traffic on the bridge going to the cruise port terminal from our hotel room and had debated about waiting a little longer before leaving. We exit the hotel and our plan was to take an Uber.  There were taxis sitting right outside so that was our choice. This taxi driver was yelling (not in English) at other drivers and going in and out of lanes. We get on the bridge and he made his own lane against the side of the bridge wall. I wasn't sure we were even going to make it to the ship! I so wished I would have recorded the entire drive. Google Maps said it was going to take us 35 minutew. We made it to the pier in 15. The guy should probably think about a different career before he has a heart attack.

You may have realized we are huge fans of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Our cruise now is on The Mariner, a smaller and older vessel. This vessel is 710 ft in length. There are 700 guests and 450 crew from 38 Nationalities.

The Mariner was in port the night before we were scheduled to embark and we could see her from our room.

We checked in and received our Key Card - we are now 'Gold' status! Our key card allows us to board the ship, enter our suite and provides our muster station. Let's Go!

It is really nice to walk onboard and hear "Welcome Home would you like a glass of Champagne 🍾"

Suites there are 8 different suite types, every guest enjoys spacious closets, well-appointed bathrooms and a private balcony with views of the shimmering sea. Ours was a Deluxe Veranda Suite.

Ports / Excursions

Our first port was Cartagena, Columbia. This was our second time here. We booked our excursion based on our visit last April.

Old Town Roadsters included a ride in old cars

After driving through the Getsamnia area and Old Town we stopped for a snack and a beer at Al Alma Café Restaurante.

Ceviche was really good
Beer was cold

A short tour and then time on our own. There were so many people in Old Town. We were happy to head back to the ship.

From Miami to Catagena, Colombia we traveled 117 nautical miles. Up next is the Panama Canal transit.

Dates: January 11 - 14, 2026
