France 🇫🇷 - Arsac & Saint Emilion

Arsac, crossed by the 45th parallel north, is therefore located at an equal distance from the North Pole and the Earth's equator (approximately 5,000 km). Arsac is a commune within the Bordeaux metropolitan area, located in the Médoc region, where the Médoc vineyards are situated.

Saint-Émilion history goes back at least 35,000 years. it is a medieval city located at the crossroads of Bordeaux, Saintonge and Périgor. Saint-Émilion is located on the right bank of Bordeaux, where it is predominantly merlot.

What did we do?

On our way to Arsac we made a stop at Château Kirwan for a tour and a tasting.

We had our own personal
tour guide

the barrel to hide the wine stains.

Arsac

We went shopping in the little town. They had a butcher/cheese shop and a bakery. We of course had no idea how to order or what to order and the woman behind the counter did not speak much English. At both places the women were very patient with us and even the customers chimed in to help translate.

Boucherie Charcuterie Larrazet

Another tour and a tasting this time right at our Château du Tertre. The Château dates back to the 12th century. For four centuries it was the property of the Lords of Arsa .

This vineyard has used 4 different vats:

Wooden barrel Vats

Concrete Vats
Stainless steel vats

Saint Emilion
Badon Boutique Hôtel a great location with a comfortable bed. They also have a private parking area for a small fee. It did not have a fridge but Rob was able to keep his beer cold in the common area fridge. The staff were great!

How did we get there?

Arsac we drove about 45 mnutes to Cantenac. From Cantenac another 15 minutes to our Chateau.

Bordeaux to Château du Tertre

We had about an hour drive to the other side of the river to Saint Emilion. Since we had time we decided to find a laundromat on our way.

Back on the road:

When did we visit

Arsac 14 - 16 September 2025
Saint Emilion  16 - 19 September 2025

We went to Arsac to stay at the Château. It is a beautiful Château and we highly recommend.

Saint-Émilion was a quaint town and I highly suggest visiting. A lot of people just make this a day trip from Bordeaux.

I hope every "I want to travel the world" girl finds her "I just booked the trip" guy."
