Negombo Beach is located on the west coast of Sri Lanka and is a popular tourist destination known for its long stretch of sandy beach and proximity to the country's main international airport -- which is why we chose this beach town for our final destination.
How did we get here? We had the same driver that brought us to Kandy. He was determined to take us to some spice factory. I told him at least three times we were not interested and just wanted to go to Negombo. Finally, he started pulling in saying he wanted to stop for tea. I, again said no. I think he was pissed and started driving rather aggressively (more aggressively than normal).
Where did we stay? We stayed at Camelot Beach Hotel. We had a nice room overlooking the pools, beach and ocean. The staff were fantastic and we had dinner and lunch a few times at the poolside restaurant. We met a couple, who were Italian, traveling with a younger woman from Istanbul. All three live in Sweden and spoke German. I don't know the connection with the three of them but they were so much fun. It is so much fun meeting people from all over the world!
Where did we eat? All our meals were consumed at the hotel restaurant and pool bar except for one. The food and the service were very good.

Sharon was sitting on the balcony and there was this guy walking along the tree tops, cutting down coconuts 🥥 😳 🤔.
When did we visit? March 27 through March 30, 2023
Negombo Beach was a great place to spend our last few nights in Sri Lanka. Most tourists head south from Colombo so this is a less touristy town but a great close proximity to the airport -- especially if you have just arrived in Sri Lanka.
