Southport is nestled along the picturesque coastline of northwest England.
What did we do?
Southport Pier and Promenade: Southport's historic pier is the oldest iron pier in the UK and extends into the Irish Sea. It was closed for 'essential maintenance' so we didn't really get to 'do' that. It serves as a hub for entertainment, with arcades, cafes, and shops. We did enjoy our walks along the adjoining promenade. There was no shortage of people-watching.

For 3 pounds you could ride from one end of the promenade to the other |
Southport Model Railway Village: This 1:18 scale attraction features architectural styles from all over Merseyside and South West Lancashire. Trains run around the perimeter of the 1.5 acre village. Exciting.
Lawn Bowling -- we didn't play but we enjoyed watching others play. Players roll their bowls up the green trying to finish closest to a smaller ball called the "Jack". A bowling green is normally square and the Scottish Bowling Association rules say that it shall be not less than 34 metres and no more than 40 metres in the direction of play.
Southport Pleasureland: OK... we didn't actually ride any rides but we did walk around and check it out. Looked fun for younger folks! Pleasureland offers amusement rides, games, and attractions.
Skipton Castle -- We took the train to Blackburn and friend's of my sister, Carla and Travis, picked us up and drove us to Skipton. We had lunch and toured Skipton Castle. It was a rainy day (shocking... I know) and we decided to go to their old English style home for drinks before heading back to Southport. It was so nice having other people to hang out with all day! And they are both such kind and generous people! We had a lot of fun.

Wayfarers Arcade first opened in 1898 as the Leyland Arcade. A covered shopping arcade that allowed shoppers to escape the noise and mud of the streets and horse drawn traffic. A beautiful building but sadly there are only a handful of stores opened.
Where did we eat?
Bistro Bar Med - Mezze-tapas & Theme Bar. Excellent service and the tapas were really good!

Gambas Prawns, Rolls, Spanish Omelette |

Tik Taco was the perfect place to go on a rainy night because it was directly across the street from our AirBnb. The closeness of the restaurant was the best thing about it. Disappointing!
Great Himalayas Nepalese Restaurant & Bar this was probably our best meal while in Southport.

We found the local dive bar Enelle's Glass House and it was karaoke 🎤 night. It was awesome! (ok... not the karaoke). They did not serve food so dinner at home.

As you may have noticed we don't ever or very rarely eat breakfast out. We decided we needed to try a Full English Breakfast, so we went to Nostalgia Tea Room. It was a quaint little restaurant and the food, prices, and service were very good. Their Full English Breakfast came with bacon, sausage, egg, 1/2 tomato, mushrooms, beans and doorstep toast. Bonus for me since Sharon does not eat beans!

Where did we stay? An AirBnb, "Lovely 1 Bedroom Apartment". This was pretty nice and had a separate bedroom and living room/kitchen combo. It was close to everything.
How did we get there? Train (from Stratford-Upon-Avon).
When did we go? July 31 to August 7, 2023
According to little Ms. Google, for the month of July we traveled 675 miles.
Southport was nice to walk around. There was a lake that we walked around several times. There really wasn't a whole lot to do but it was relaxing.
