East Coast Travels

As we left Sanibel we headed to the East Coast to check out Hollywood Beach. We are still in search of our perfect little town to settle down in. Sanibel is on the list, but so is Key West.

We arrived in Hollywood Beach on April 30th, we had an Airbnb booked for 2 nights. I'm always concerned 🤔 about the location and accommodations even after researching a place. Our location was 1/2 block off the Broadwalk (not a typo) which was great and we had a decent little studio apartment. The Broadwalk is a promenade that stretches 2.5 miles along the Atlantic Ocean.

We spent time on the beach ⛱and dinner at Mamacitas Latin Bar & Grill.

More Beach ⛱  time and dinner at 7 Tables on the Beach. A great little Peruvian Restaurant with the loudest music.  We had a short wait for a table, but we were seated right on the Broadwalk with the biggest speaker 🔊 right behind us, we couldn't hear a thing.  I noticed a table open up on the balcony so we moved seats 💺 thinking the music would not be as loud, WRONG, more speakers. The food was really good.

As we were walking 🚶‍♀️ 🚶‍♂️ the Broadwalk after dinner we came upon a concert at Hollywood Beach Bandshell by Margaritaville. There is a free concert Wed through Sunday. This night was Sucker Punch a rock and country band. Pretty good entertainment.

We decided Hollywood Beach ⛱  did not make our list of possible places to live, but we could visit again.

On our way to our next stop we drove along the coast using the A1A, the main road through most oceanfront towns.  We stopped and checked out Deerfield Beach, which is just south of Delray-Beach. We enjoyed lunch at Oceans 234, before heading on.

In Delray we had a studio booked through Airbnb for a week. This place was so so, but the location was great.  We were a 5 minute walk to the downtown Atlantic Avenue where all the shops, restaurants, and art galleries were located. On our first night we found our favorite bar, Johnnie Brown's.

We explored Wakodahatchee Wetlands, the wetlands opened in 1996 on 50 acres of previous wastewater utility property. There was a 3/4 Boardwalk winding its way through the area.  We had been missing the wildlife since leaving Sanibel and this gave us a chance to see some up close.

Our friend Vicki Kinnamon-Kempf lives in Delray and gave us great information on the area.  She made dinner reservations at Tremonti's, where we met for dinner.  The service and food was excellent. If you go you must try the Spedini de Mozzarella Romano, baked mozzarella in their famous sauce. 😋

The other must is the Silverball Metro Arcade, we spent hours, yes hours, playing pinball machines, Donkey Kong, Asteroids, and even Frogger.

Of course, there is the beach ⛱ 😎.

We really enjoyed Delray, it could possibly make our list.

We next headed to Vero Beach to stay with family for a few nights. On our way we discovered a great littte Mediterranean Market & Deli in West Palm Beach.  Highly recommend if you are in the area.

It was great spending time with Florian, Brenda, Zach, Brianna, Jett and Baby Reed.  Well, we ended up staying more than a few nights 🌙, because Covid 🤢🤧🤒😷 finally knocked on our door.  We appreciated the hospitality!

After leaving Vero we spent a night in Savannah before heading to Topsail. We spent several days with Jeff and Wendy.

We left Topsail and headed directly to North Beach, MD.  We felt like we were home again, yet not.  Lance and Nicole always welcome us, just like family.  This trip there was a lot of logistics to work out, but we got to spend time with the Julian's, the Foster's, and the Flynn's.  We spent some time at Herrington visiting all our friends.

Lance's Fried Rice

We spent a couple of nights at Herrington Harbour Inn, thanks to John Flynn booking for us.

This was perfect as we were  2 seconds away for our charter fishing trip with Captain Janet Rupp of the Lucky Duck. Weather was not perfect, but we had a great time and we caught fish. Thanks Bob Deremond for organizing. We were so happy Nick and Shae could join us. Shae caught her first Spot and Rockfish!

Nick and Shae, took us out on their boat and had us over for diner at their apartment.

We were able to have dinner with Chris and Heather at the Boat House, Nick joined us also.  I was able to pick Heather up and work and just the two of us had lunch, while Rob helped Nick with his boat.

David even graced us with his presence and met us for lunch. I should mention David hates when I want to take a picture.

We were lucky enough to be able to help Rosella celebrate her birthday, but we did miss her graduation.  Happy birthday and congratulations Zellie!

Always love spending time with our family. Always hate saying good bye. 😔  😢

I need to boast, because I scored a really good deal at The Graduate Hotel in Annapolis. A Graduate Queen room for ONLY $30 a night.  We did have to book for 5 nights, but at that price no big deal. I received the notification the hotel was offering this deal from Trip Savvy.

Our next stop was Mechanicsburg, PA to visit the Rents and attend the wedding of our nephew Brad and his wife to be Kennedy.

The wedding venue was very nice. The Bride was gorgeous, the Groom was very handsome, and Declan (great nephew) was adorable.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Corliss!

One more night in Mechanicsburg so we could spend a little more time with the Rents before heading west.
