Daytona Beach

We left the Matanzas inlet early Saturday morning (11/30/19) making our way to Daytona Beach, FL for several days due to oncoming weather.  We had a delightful cruise starting with a beautiful sunrise, we passed many gorgeous homes, escorted by dolphins (that was pretty amazing) and passed under several bridges [including one being built] on our journey to Halifax Harbor Marina.

Route from Matanzas Inlet to Daytona Beach
After an exemplary docking at Halifax Harbor Marina, we explored the historic downtown Daytona area. There were several business' opened and we ventured into a couple including an Oriental Grocery (I love grocery stores). There was not really very much to see in the downtown area.  The gentleman helping us dock suggested I should not go alone to the closest 7-Eleven.  But we felt completely safe walking around.

On Sunday we spent the afternoon on Daytona Beach, the weather was absolutely wonderful and the temperature was a nice 82 degrees with a slight breeze.  The water temperature was chilly, my toes were frozen. On Saturday night at the Chart House we received recommendations for Sunday football and the unanimous decision was the Oyster Pub, which we decided to try.  A great recommendation, we scored a booth that already had the Ravens game on and the Redskins were on another screen right next to our booth. Our waitress Jenna was on point, would definitely go back.

Monday, 12/2/19 Rob did laundry [very much appreciated] and cleaned the fly bridge while I cleaned the inside of the boat and decorated.  I have decorations for a small tree [all other ornaments are in storage], but I decided not to do a tree and just decorate the inside of the boat. In the past I decorated 3 trees, it's odd not to have any.  I had a bit of a meltdown, which I thought would be on Thanksgiving.  I have lights everywhere inside the boat and Christmas music was going at full volume.  I wasn't sure how Rob as going to react, but he has been very supportive. I finally cooked our Thanksgiving dinner, which consisted of a turkey breast, stuffing [using homemade bread], mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and carrots with pumpkin pie for dessert.

Most items have found their home but some things still require moving around (not so much as when we first started). However, we had to remove cushions and boards on the settee (our sofa) in order to put away the fall decorations and get the Christmas decorations out. We still have too much stuff!

Looking forward to our trip back to Maryland, missing our family and friends.

We're on a boat!
