Norway 🇳🇴 - Voss: Where Fjords Meet Fearless Adventure

Tucked between the majestic Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord, Voss is Norway’s adrenaline capital—and a hidden gem for travelers seeking both thrill and tranquility.

Spoiler alert: We did NOT paraglide and do any 'adrenaline thrills'! We are definitely the tranquil type.

What did we do?

Ride the Voss Gondola In just 9 minutes, ascend to Mount Hanguren for panoramic views at 820 meters. Perfect for hikers, skiers, and photographers alike.

Here comes our ride!

Voss Church - "It is thought that the site of the present church may once have been occupied by a Heathen temple. In 1023 King Olav Haraldson visited Voss to convert the people to Christianity.

The first church here was built of wood. In a royal letter dating from 1271 king Magnus Lagabote expressed his satisfaction that the parishioners were replacing it by a stone church, and urges the continuation and completion of this task. When finished the church was dedicated to Saint Michael (1277)."

Vossevangen Telefonkiosk - a telephone booth converted to a book exchange.

Where did we stay?

Scandic Voss Hotel

The hotel also has a gym and sauna.

Tip:

Arriving by train just walk down the platform to the entrance. (Do not use Google Maps' directions. Ask us how we know. lol)

Make sure you lock your door with key card when leaving your room! We didn't learn this until the next day. Yikes!

How did we get there?

We took a train from Bergen Stasjon (Station) to Voss Station. The ride was beautiful and took about an hour and a half. Premium (1st class) seats were the way to go! The train is Vy - a Norwegian Railroad.
